Everything you need to know about working as a holiday nanny with us
What’s your nanny superpower?
Vacation Nannies are looking for experienced or qualified nannies, but we want more than that! We’re looking for nannies who are fun, enthusiastic and outgoing – and have a special skill to share with the children you’ll look after. It might be a passion for arts and crafts, or maybe you’re a bit of a sports star. You could be a drama graduate or singer, a dressing-up afficionado or a speak a lot of languages. Whatever your special skill is, we want to know about it!
Our founder, Charlotte, is an arts school graduate who never sets foot on a nanny assignment without a box of arts and crafts goodies to keep kids entertained. She’s a talented skier and has travelled the world (including trips to India and Nepal) and shares these skills and experiences with the children she looks after. We want you to be able to share your nanny superpower with the children you look after too!

Working as a holiday nanny
Frequently asked questions
We think it’s great fun! You get to build your childcare career, have fun with children each and every day and get to travel the world as an added bonus. Depending on your experience, being a nanny can be well-paid too. Many of our nannies build great bonds with their families and make new friends for life.
You don’t need to have a childcare qualification to work as a nanny, but it’s an added bonus if you do! We need you to have a minimum of one years’ experience, along with excellent written and verbal references, and all the relevant paperwork. We can recommend courses if you do want to do a childcare qualification. To find out more about all our minimum requirements, please see above. Some families do request a nanny with a childcare qualification, so we can only offer these roles to suitably qualified candidates.
The family pay for your transport to and from your home to their destination. Your food and accommodation will also be paid for, along with any expenses you need to pay for children’s activities, snacks, drinks, public transport or petrol. Please keep all receipts to give to the family and make sure you discuss any dietary requirements before you leave. The only money of your own you’ll spend is on your time off.
Families usually want you to travel with them, to help during the journey. However if you need to travel to the assignment from another country, we can discuss this with you and the family before you leave.
Your hourly or daily rate depends on your experience. Starting salaries are around £8 per hour but our most experienced nannies can earn up to £18 per hour or more! Pay is also dependant on the family’s requirements. If families want you to work longer hours and take on more responsibilities, this will be reflected in your daily rate. We will negotiate your final rate with you and the family before you leave.
